About Brann Studios

I kept wasting time.

For 20+ years, I've been making music—EDM, Techno, Pop, whatever the project needs. I release tracks as Tobe Brann and other projects, like Mike Apex. I also write software for a living and lead a dev team. So when something in my workflow frustrates me, I tend to build a solution.

Here's the thing: I'd spend 20 minutes just auditioning EQ curves. Boost here, cut there, bypass, compare, undo, try again. It's fine when you know exactly what you want. But sometimes you don't. Sometimes you need to explore—to sweep through possibilities and feel what works instead of thinking your way there.

I wanted one slider that could take me from "warm and scooped" to "bright and aggressive" in real-time. Nothing I found did that well. So I built it.

Six months later, I had eKuh. It was just for me—a tool that fit how I actually work. But I showed it to a few producer friends, and they wouldn't stop asking when they could have it. So here we are.

Brann Studios is just me, building tools that solve problems I actually have. eKuh is the first. More are coming.

Windows: Windows 10 or later (64-bit). VST3 format.

RAM: 4 GB minimum, 8 GB recommended.

Display: 1280Ă—720 minimum resolution.

Which DAWs are supported?

eKuh works with any DAW that supports VST3 or AU plugins:

  • Ableton Live
  • Logic Pro
  • FL Studio

  • And many more...
How do I install eKuh?

1. Download the installer from this page.

What's the difference between VST3 and AU?

VST3: Universal format that works in most DAWs on both macOS and Windows.

AU (Audio Unit): Apple's native format, exclusive to macOS. Required for Logic Pro and GarageBand.

Both versions are identical in features and sound quality. Install both if you use multiple DAWs.

1. Open eKuh in your DAW.

2. Click the "Activate" button in the top bar.

3. Enter your license key (sent to your email after purchase).

4. Click "Activate" — you're done!

Each license allows activation on up to 3 machines.

Can I transfer my license to a new computer?

Yes! Open eKuh on your old machine, go to Settings → License, and click "Deactivate". This frees up a slot.

Then activate on your new machine using the same license key. You can do this as many times as needed.

What's your refund policy?

I offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If eKuh Pro doesn't meet your expectations, contact me within 14 days of purchase for a full refund — no questions asked.

Since there's also a free trial, I recommend trying before buying. Or just get started with eKuh Free.

To request a refund, use the support form and mention your order number.

What payment methods do you accept?

I use Paddle as the payment processor, which supports:

  • Credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)
  • PayPal
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Wire transfer (for some regions)

Paddle handles all taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) automatically based on your location.

Will I be charged again after purchase?

No. eKuh Pro is a one-time purchase with a lifetime license. There are no subscriptions, no recurring fees, and no forced upgrades.

All updates within the same major version (e.g., 1.x) are free.

How do I get an invoice or receipt?

After purchase, Paddle automatically sends a receipt to your email. This receipt is a valid tax invoice.

Need a custom invoice or lost your receipt? Contact us via the support form with your order number.

Features & Usage

How does the morphing feature work?

eKuh stores EQ "states" — snapshots of all band positions, gains, and Q values. The morph slider smoothly interpolates between these states.

The interpolation uses logarithmic frequency scaling, so transitions sound musical rather than mathematical. You can morph between completely different EQ curves in real-time.

Can I automate the morph slider in my DAW?

Yes! The morph slider (and all other parameters) can be automated in your DAW. This lets you create evolving EQ changes throughout your track.

In Pro, you can also use the built-in modulators (LFO, MSEG, etc.) to animate the morph slider automatically.

How do I create my own presets?

1. Set up your EQ curves and morph states.

2. Click the preset menu and choose "Save Preset".

3. Name your preset and optionally add tags.

Your presets are stored locally and will appear in the "User" category.

What do Intensity and Sharpness do?

Intensity: A global gain multiplier. Turning it up makes all boosts/cuts more extreme; turning it down makes the EQ more subtle.

Sharpness: A global Q multiplier. Higher values make all bands narrower/more focused; lower values make them broader.

These are great for quickly adjusting preset intensity to fit your mix.

What's Delta mode?

Delta mode lets you hear only what the EQ is adding or removing. It's incredibly useful for identifying exactly what frequencies you're affecting.

Enable it, make your adjustments while listening to the isolated effect, then disable it to hear the full result.

How does per-band saturation work? (Pro)

Each EQ band in Pro has its own saturation control with 4 modes:

  • Soft: Gentle, transparent warmth
  • Tape: Analog tape-style saturation
  • Tube: Vacuum tube harmonics
  • Hard: Aggressive clipping

This lets you add warmth to specific frequency ranges without affecting others.

Technical & Troubleshooting

How much CPU does eKuh use?

eKuh is optimized for low CPU usage. Typical usage is 1-3% per instance on modern machines.

CPU usage increases with:

  • More active bands
  • Saturation enabled (Pro)
  • Higher oversampling settings
  • Active modulators (Pro)

If you need to reduce CPU, try disabling oversampling or unused modulators.

eKuh doesn't appear in my DAW. What do I do?

Try these steps:

  1. Rescan plugins: Most DAWs have a "Rescan" option in plugin settings.
  2. Check plugin paths: VST3 should be in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/, AU in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/.
  3. Restart your DAW after installation.
  4. Check format: Logic Pro requires AU, not VST3.

Still not working? Contact us with your DAW name and macOS version.

eKuh crashes or freezes. How do I fix it?

Crashes are rare but can happen. Try:

  1. Update eKuh to the latest version.
  2. Update your DAW and macOS.
  3. Reset preferences: Delete ~/Library/Application Support/eKuh/ and restart.
  4. Disable GPU acceleration in your DAW if available.

If crashes persist, contact us via the support form and include crash logs.

What does oversampling do?

Oversampling processes audio at 2x, 4x, 8x, or 16x the project sample rate, then downsamples. This reduces aliasing artifacts, especially when using saturation.

2x: Good balance of quality and CPU.

4x: Higher quality, moderate CPU usage.

8x: High quality, higher CPU usage.

16x: Best quality, highest CPU usage.

If you're not using saturation, oversampling has minimal effect.

Does eKuh add latency?

eKuh uses linear-phase filters for the HP/LP section, which introduces a small amount of latency (typically 5-10ms depending on settings).

Your DAW automatically compensates for this latency (PDC). For live monitoring, you can disable the HP/LP filters to achieve zero latency.

Updates & Support

How do I update eKuh?

When an update is available, you'll see a notification in the plugin. You can also check for updates manually on the website.

To update: download the new installer and run it. Your presets and license will be preserved.

Are updates free?

eKuh Free: Always free, forever. All updates included at no cost.

eKuh Pro: All updates within the same major version are free. For example, if you bought version 1.0, all 1.x updates are included. Major version upgrades (e.g., 2.0) may require a paid upgrade, but existing customers receive a discount.

How do I contact support?
